Top Jobs for The Next Decade –Online Training Courses Are Available Now

The situation with the job market for a decade ahead is discussed very often. Surely, it is an important topic for many of us: those who are starting a career or just making a career choice, those who are in the middle of the professional life or approaching the retirement age.

Different people, different situation but most of them feel worried about their future. I don’t think there is a universal advice how to get and keep the job for the next 10 years. But there are two important things that everyone should consider:

  • Don’t plan to stay in the same job for a long time – be ready for the career change;
  • Be prepared for constant learning, skills’ upgrades, and the necessity to adjust to the job market swings.

Let’s have a look how the job market is developing and what skills’ will be needed to get top jobs for the next decade.

What factors affect job market status?

Explosion of Data

Every day we are generating zettabytes of raw data. Companies and organizations must process this data to get meaningful and accurate information which can help plan, operate, and manage businesses effectively.

Emerging Technologies

The intervention of technologies in manufacturing and service sectors causes changes in core processes and operations leading to the reduction of routine job positions. We can’t ignore the effect of robotics, artificial intelligence, and 3D printing on different areas of manufacturing and services – intelligent devices can successfully manage routine operations. But it will also generate more jobs related to complex analysis, problem-solving, creativity, and decision-making.

Demographic Changes

Because of advances in healthcare services, people live longer, and age of retirement is approaching 70 years. On the other side, the birth rates in developed countries are declining, and it makes average population older. These trends require urgent changes in workforce management around the globe.

Climate change

Every year, millions of people are facing life-threatening situations because of climate change: floods, droughts, fires, hurricanes, and pollution. Unfortunately, the future predictions do not look promising. For example, some data show that by 2050, around 40% of world population will be affected by droughts or floods. It requires the development of new approaches and new regulations related to efficient resource utilization, its control, and management.

Future jobs – new definition

Very interesting employment trend is developing, and it affects our perception of jobs. Currently, we all understand that any job is paid and by default, we see the job as a regular employment.

Companies are already moving towards part-time and flexible time job appointments. I foresee numerous project-based appointments even for high-demand skills’. The entire culture of the workplace is changing and the dedicated service to the specific company – is an attribute of the past. We are not going to ask our friends: Where do you work for? Instead – What are you busy with?
As a result, many professionals will be forced to take care of the personal skill development, manage constant adjustment to the market requirements, and compete for the jobs offered. It will also enhance the requirements for soft skills.

Employment Trends

It is impossible to discuss the global employment trends in details – the employment opportunities vary by industry. But the common issue for all is – an urgent necessity to take actions for managing job transitions and building the skilled workforce for the future.

It is expected that in the technology area, the new job creation will take place in such areas as Big Data analytics, mobile internet, the IoT, and robotics. As per reports, the future growth of employment will enjoy other STEM skills’ – Science, Engineering, Math, and Architecture. Many positions will be available for software developers and information security professionals.

Fortunate employment situation will stay for green and smart technology-related jobs such as the installation, fitting, maintenance, and repairs of smart devices and renewable energy technologies in residential areas and office buildings. And as we move forward with smart living: smart homes and offices, smart villages, and cities – it will require more qualified professionals to maintain entire infrastructure.

Substantial employment decline is expected in Office and Administrative jobs – the result of technology trends such as mobile internet and cloud technology, Big Data analytics and the Internet of Things. No rational to have a large number of these positions available.

At the moment, it is impossible to guess how the job market will react on the Educational sector. I am very positive about the future of online education and training which will gain new development because of lifelong learning, regular skills’ upgrades, and new skill training, Regarding regular schooling, traditional college, and university education –it is hard to predict future development, unless this sector will turn around and implement new educational approaches which will meet 21st century requirements.

There is one sector which will be enjoying future growth and development – healthcare and medicine. We are already facing the deficit of registered nurses, physical therapists, and personal medical care specialists, and this trend will continue. Since most of these skills’ can’t be trained online, I will leave this discussion for those who are knowledgeable in this important area.

We can discuss the future development and behavior of the job market but the actions related to the personal skill development must be taken today. Join the online courses which provide opportunities for the future skills’ development.

  1. This is a really good topic. Mainly because both of my parents are NOT college graduates and as they both age, and if God forbid one of them gets laid off or fired, they won’t have any skills to go to another job that pays just as well. I myself have not graduated college. But trade school is something I have done and something I Can do. I like that your post gives people opertions on where they can further their learning and gives one hope that you don’t have to re-invest in another 4 year college education to further your skills. It could be just a couple months and you are all set to go to something snazzy like Data Analysis. Thank you very much.

    1. Thank you for the comments. It is very important for everyone to see that a lot of things can be achieved at any age. There is always a solution. And Technology brings some value by providing unlimited access to different educational tools. I feel that people need to be ready to choose what they want to do next if  something is not working well at the moment. Opportunities – this what technology-based education can give us.

Thank you again for stopping by my post.
